Trauma & PTSD Therapy
Are past traumatic memories haunting you? Do you find it difficult to sleep? Do specific situations evoke intense emotional responses? Find out how trauma and PTSD therapy can help you find relief.
When you’ve gone through trauma, you might feel like you'll never be safe again. This experience can shatter your sense of safety, trust, and control over your own life, leaving you with scars that can persist for years.
Trauma can have a profound impact on your physical and mental health. It can disrupt your life, relationships, and sense of self.
After trauma, you might start avoiding places, situations, or people that remind you of the traumatic experience and lose interest in the things you used to enjoy. You can also have trouble sleeping, find it difficult to trust others, and struggle with self-doubt or self-blame.
Seeking help from an experienced trauma therapist can help you process your emotional responses to the traumatic experience, develop healthier coping skills, and regain the control and confidence to move forward.
I work with clients who have experienced different types of traumatic experiences, including:
Sexual assault or past intimate partner violence.
Exposure to violence in the community.
Combat.
Car accidents.
Medical trauma.
Childhood physical or sexual abuse.
Traumatic grief or unexpected loss of a loved one.
Childbirth-related trauma.
Online Therapy for Trauma and PTSD in Georgia and PSYPACT States
PTSD doesn’t have to last forever. Even if you’ve been struggling with the effects of trauma for years, therapy can still help.
Talking about your struggles can be tough, especially if you’re dealing with traumatic events that you have tried so hard to forget. It’s important to find a therapist who you trust and who will go at the pace that feels right for you.
How Trauma and PTSD Therapy Can Help?
Therapy can help you cope with traumatic memories, change harmful thought patterns, and start living your life with renewed strength and resilience.
1. Evidence-Based Therapy
I provide both Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). These are short-term therapies, typically lasting a few months, supported by extensive research, and proven to be effective in treating PTSD.
While these methods are more structured, that doesn’t mean you will get a one-size-fits-all approach. My goal is to work out a treatment plan that is the best fit for your unique experiences and needs.
2. Experience and Expertise
I have been providing therapy for trauma and PTSD for several years and helped dozens of clients overcome their symptoms and improve their lives.
I have received training in the assessment and treatment of trauma at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System, the Durham VA Medical Center, and the Grady Trauma Project. I’m also a certified Cognitive Processing Therapy provider, which is considered a “gold standard” treatment for PTSD.
3. Empathy and collaboration
Trauma does not affect everyone in the same way. It’s important to work with a clinician who can see the unique ways in which trauma is disrupting your daily life, relationships, and ways of understanding the world.
In our first few sessions, we will explore how trauma is showing up in your life and decide together on a treatment plan that is tailored to your specific needs.
How to Get Started?
-
1. Schedule a free 15-minute consultation
Start with a free phone consultation to ensure you find the right match for what you’re looking for in therapy. You will also have a chance to ask about fees and insurance, scheduling, or any other questions.
-
2. Meet me for an initial intake
The initial intake is a 75-minute session where we explore the stressors and difficult situations in your life, your background, and your goals for treatment. This will mark the beginning of your therapy journey.
-
3. Start your journey toward trauma recovery
I will meet where you are in your recovery, and make sure you feel heard, seen, and understood. Together we transform the entire therapy process into a healing journey that respects your specific needs and circumstances
